December 30, 2010 (Lucky Bean Soup)

It's a southern tradition. Black eye peas (representing humility and good fortune), collard greens (money) and ham (fat, representing plentiful happiness) mean luck for the new year. We bougie'd it up by adding bacon, veal broth, parsnips and lentils (both round, representing coins and wealth). Baked brie and round crackers to start (luck and coming full circle), and wine. Wine representing nothing, except wine. Because, obviously.

Here is to a lucky 2013, y'all.
